June 7, 2011 | GBT’s PROGRAM FOR NUTCRACKER WINS AWARD

Gwinnett Ballet Theatre excels on the theatre stage with its quality of dancing and performing for its audiences. Now, it seems that GBT also shows utmost quality and excellence on the printed page! The Printing and Imaging Association of Georgia (PIAG) held its annual Gala on May 13, 2011 at the Georgia Aquarium. The focus of this event was the Annual Georgia Printing and Imaging Competition, where the best examples of excellence in print by Georgia printers were given recognition and awards. Gwinnett Ballet Theatre’s beautiful program for The Nutcracker 2010 was one of the winners.

The Gwinnett Ballet Theatre’s 64 page Nutcracker Program 2010 won Best of Category for Programs printed by sheet-fed offset printing. GBT’s printer, Bennett Graphics, was the recipient of this award.

Bennett Graphics is located in Tucker, Georgia. It is one of the Southeast’s most accomplished offset and digital printing companies, having won 48 Best of Category Awards and 30 Awards of Excellence in this year’s Competition. This year, the Competition attracted more than 600 entries from 38 printing and imaging companies and four graphic arts high schools from across the state of Georgia.

Bennett Graphics spokesman Aras Naujokas said, “Each year, the PIAG Print Excellence Competition awards the most impressive combinations of technology and craftsmanship in Georgia’s printing, imaging, and finishing community.”

The Printing and Imaging Association of Georgia was founded in 1894. Bennett Graphics was founded by David Bennett in 1967. Only ten years later, Gwinnett Ballet Theatre opened its doors in 1977.

“We are delighted to be a part of winning such a prestigious award,” states GBT Artistic Director Lisa Sheppard Robson. “This beautiful program shows at a glance the quality of our dancers and our Nutcracker production. We are grateful to Bennett Graphics for the care and attention to detail that this award-winning program reflects.”

GBT is located at 2204 Fountain Square in Snellville, Georgia. GBT presents its annual production of The Nutcracker at the Gwinnett Performing Arts Center in Duluth, this year from December 2-18. The 2011 Nutcracker will mark GBT’s 30th Anniversary of presenting this well loved family classic to its regional audiences.
