THE CHILDREN'S DIVISION
Creative Movement - age 3 (Pink Leotard)): This 45-minute class is designed as an introduction to dance for the youngest dancer. Children will learn the love of movement while building coordination and strength. It's fun, creative and imaginative!
Ballet/Jazz-4 -age 4 (Pink Leotard): Children will continue to gain awareness of music, rhythm and movement. An introduction to ballet vocabulary will begin, as well as an introduction to jazz.
Ballet/Jazz-5 -age 5 (Royal Blue Leotard): This class is a continuation of Ballet/Jazz-4, increasing ballet vocabulary and building on ballet and jazz movement and coordination.
Ballet 6 - age 6 (Royal Blue Leotard): An introduction to basic classical ballet movements and terminology in a fun yet structured setting. Student builds strength, coordination and self-discipline, while learning rhythm and the fundamentals of dance technique.
THE LOWER SCHOOL
The Lower School Division (beginning at age 7) teaches elementary levels of ballet and eventually introduces pre-pointe work. Students in The Lower School will be placed in appropriate levels by the faculty with regard to previous dance training as well as level of proficiency.
Elementary 1: Two 1-hour classes per week. (Black Leotard)
This class teaches the rudiments of ballet technique, flexibility and coordination exercises as well as musicality and development of expression through movement. Correct body placement is emphasized while learning ballet vocabulary and terminology.
Elementary 2: Two 1-hour classes per week. (Black Leotard)
This class features the same curriculum as Elementary 1, emphasizing strength and continuing to further ballet vocabulary.
THE UPPER SCHOOL
The Upper School Division teaches intermediate and advanced levels of ballet technique, modern and jazz. All students will be placed in appropriate levels by the faculty.
Intermediate I (Burgundy Leotard): Emphasis is placed on strength and the continuation of building technique and placement. To include pointe/pre-pointe. Two 1-1/2 hour classes per week plus Jazz.
Intermediate II (Navy Blue Leotard): This class is a continuation of criteria for Intermediate I with the addition of strength and development for introduction to pointe. Three 1-1/2 hour classes per week plus Jazz.
