The Gwinnett Ballet Theatre School is one of the few non-profit dance schools in the Atlanta region. This non-profit status ensures that priority is placed on the individual dancer as opposed to acquiring large numbers of students. This focus on the individual child results in strong, confident dancers. Beginning at age 3 and continuing throughout high school and sometimes beyond, students are offered the finest training available. Classes utilize the talents of teachers selected for their ability to obtain results while fulfilling the GBT motto of “Nurturing young dancers.” GBT’s teaching philosophy involves the whole dancer. Confidence and a spirit of independent creativity are the results of this focus.
While GBT concentrates on classical ballet, dancers are encouraged to learn other forms of dance, and company members are required to do so. Classes in jazz, modern, and hip hop are available at the appropriate age and levels of development. As students graduate into higher levels of experience, participation in the auditioning and attendance of summer intensives at major national ballet companies is strongly recommended. GBT’s participation in the Southeastern Regional Ballet Association is also a focal point of the serious student’s participation and development. GBT prides itself on many successful and well rounded students who have achieved professional careers. The formula for this success is offered to all who participate.
