Overview...
Each year, Gwinnett Ballet Theatre performs for audiences totaling approximately 12,000.
Our annual Nutcracker production has been staged continuously since 1981. We offer 16 Nutcracker performances each holiday season, making it the longest run for any northeast metro area holiday show. Included in our Nutcracker schedule are at least five specially priced community enrichment shows that offer discounted tickets to schools, scouts, seniors and others who might not otherwise be able to attend a high-quality ballet production.
Our annual spring concert varies from year to year. Recent spring productions include a collaboration with New York’s Joffrey Ensemble Dancers; a collaboration with the Gwinnett Philharmonic in which GBT presented the world-premiere performance of Moussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition; The Firebird; and Alice in Wonderland.
For the 2006 Spring concert, Gwinnett Ballet Theatre presented a world premiere production of Shakespeare’s beloved comedy, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,”. The ballet’s new choreography was created by nationally renowned choreographer Thom Clower. As another important “first,” the production was accompanied by a 28-piece live ensemble, the Gwinnett Ballet Theatre Orchestra, conducted by Predrag Gosta, performing Felix Mendelssohn’s well-loved incidental music to the Shakespeare play. The production was also the initial joint venture between Gwinnett Ballet Theatre and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
